Kids Choice Sunday TitleWhy Kids Choice Sunday?

I love the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, this is a great way of knowing kid trends. Also it’s filled with creative ideas worth duplicating. I know there are a lot of Christians who boycott Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network; but they spend millions of dollars in research to not only find the latest trend but also to make the trend. These companies are producing pop star and children icons every week. Which means they make culture, the same culture that your kids live in everyday.  I agree we don’t want our kids to be of this world, but maybe we can help them engage this world.  Paul engaged his culture and used an idol to point people to Christ.

Acts 17:22-29 (The Message)

So Paul took his stand in the open space at the Areopagus and laid it out for them. “It is plain to see that you Athenians take your religion seriously. When I arrived here the other day, I was fascinated with all the shrines I came across. And then I found one inscribed, to the god nobody knows. I’m here to introduce you to this God so you can worship intelligently, know who you’re dealing with. “The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn’t live in custom-made shrines or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn’t take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don’t make him. Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! One of your poets said it well: ‘We’re the God-created.’ Well, if we are the God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could hire a sculptor to chisel a god out of stone for us, does it?

How To  Have A Kids Choice Sunday:

We tried to give the kids a choice at every activity we did. During worship we let the kids vote (by shouting) for the first two fast songs. Each time they picked between two songs a newer one we were singing currently and an older one they haven’t sung in a while.

Below I have provided a blank slide, so you can put in the songs that work best for your ministry. The font I’m using in this slide is called OogieBoogie and can be found at www.1001freefonts.com or by clicking here.  When you download there is a read me file that will help you to install it.

We had two games prepared for the kids to vote on which they wanted to play. We used minute to win it games found on NBC.com. We gave them the choice to play Shake It or Cup Stack Attack. The supplies can be found at Dollar Tree for less then 10 bucks. Check out my previous post for how to’s and cheap tips.

Below I have provided a blank slide

We gave them two short video clips and also let them pick who would present the Verse of the day. (LT or Forgetful Franny) LT is a Flash Puppet that can be downloaded here or read more about it here.
