Justyn Smith is a husband to one amazing wife and father to five beautiful children. They recently moved to Corona, CA after having lived in Las Vegas for four years. Justyn is the children’s pastor at South Hills Church. He has a huge heart to see this young generation grow up to be the greatest leaders and influencers in history. He consults, writes and is a frequent conference speaker. He is an advocate for the local church who believes the local church is the hope of the world. Justyn has recently been named one of “Children’s Ministry Magazine’s” Top 20 to Watch.

A God size dream is impossible you on your own. You will need God to accomplish this kind of dream.

When you take something ordinary and allow God to make something extraordinary out of it. That is a God dream.

Abraham. God said Go, start walking and he went. After he stepped out of his comfort zone God began to reveal the plan.

Joseph. God puts the dreams into our hearts.   Had he not shared his dreams the blessings would not have happened for him. Stay true to the dreams God places in our hearts.

Sometimes God allows us to fail in our own strength, so that we turn to him to see it succeed. Ex. Moses killed the guard and had to hide out for many years.

How to accomplish a dream:
-Dream a dream.
-Form a team.
-One page of paper.

Process of a dream
Write it down, make a list of the steps
Read them regularly
Pray over it
Sit back and watch God’s intervention

Don’t let your dream get so big it over shadows gods dream.

Give people a life changing event with Christ. Others can hold events.  What are we doing that others cannot do. Getting children to respond to the gospel.

The wow moments is when you can sense or see the kids connecting with what you are saying or doing.

Kids will not wait to go home to make their decision, do it now during the wow moment.

You need to be prayed up
Prepare. Know what you are talking about.
Be ready to take advantage of the wow moment.   Don’t pass up a chance to lead a child to Christ.

A 40 hour work week is not biblical. It’s not the example Christ led.

Your attitude determines your altitude.   Attitude about the church at home will affect your family.

It’s better to be anointed than cool.

You are paid for the amount of stress that you can handle.

Ministry is a marathon not a sprint.

Value what they are doing. Don’t make changes to fast.

Church is to reenforce the home.

Evangelism   :  a man and a woman marry and have children allowing their children to see them in the word while teaching the word. Now we are going backwards by trying to teach in the church rather than reenforce.

On November 6th, Joe McAlpine and I loaded up in the car and drove two hours to a little town near Arkansas called Locus Grove to attend Kidology to Go.  Kidology to Go is a full day of leadership training and creative ideas for Children’s Pastors.  Marty Martin and Karl Bastian taught sessions ranging from relational ministry to kids to helping the church and family work together.  I really enjoyed the day and had a great time meeting fellow kid’s pastors.  I would suggest Kidology to Go for any kid’s pastor who wanted to load up their entire team and give them a high quality training.  The best part is it’s only $10.00; you could take a group of 20 for less than the price of the average kid’s pastor conference.  Another option for Kidology to Go would to be to host it; which would only cost a church $500.00.  The next Kidology to Go will be in Wichita, Kansas and in my opinion would be worth the time and money.

What is Kidology to Go?

Kidology to Go is a mobile training event that travels across the United States and Canada, bringing quality children’s ministry training and resources to churches. For a limited time, Marty Martin — one of the top children’s pastors in America — is taking a two-year sabbatical from weekly church ministry to visit churches, provide training, and help encourage others.

Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma will be hosting the Kidology to Go seminar on Saturday, November 6th, 2010. Trunk Or Treat Will be on Halloween night!!!

What is Trunk Or Treat? Trunk or Treat provides a safe environment for families to enjoy an inexpensive evening of Halloween fun in a festival atmosphere! Children trick-or-treat by going from car trunk to car trunk on “Trunk or Treat Street” to get their bag filled with goodies. We will be hosting a decorate a trunk, and Spring Creek Assembly provides all the candy to be given out at the event. Along With TONS of candy, there will also be free popcorn, hot cocoa, balloons, and game.

Trunk or treat is basically trick or treating from car trunks. This event may be a great alternative to Fall festival or a carnival and is a family friendly outreach event. Here is what you need to know.

Get Candy!

This year our church is expecting about 700 people to show up for this safe trick or treating event. Buying that much candy would break the bank, so we started a bedlam OU/OSU candy drive. We have two drop sites where our church members put their donated wrapped candy. Each site has 2 containers, one orange for OSU and  one red for OU. Our pastors will be wearing the team color and attire of the winning team.

Find Trunks!

We have a sign up sheet for people to enter their car, truck, motorcycle, and even trailers in a trunk-decorating contest. We are offering an awesome trophy and a $25 dollar gift card. Our trunk or treat flyers have photos of previous trunks.  Trunks can be decorated anyway and can also have games going on at them for extra prizes.  We also set up carnival style games for the kids to play to win extra candy between vehicles.  The games don’t have to be elaborate, but fun and easy to do for all ages – make sure the games are not too long so the lines don’t get overwhelming.

Get The Word Out!

Flyers, Posters, Door hangers, emails, newspaper ads, Craigslist, Facebook, and school newsletters. Do whatever you can to get the word out to your community. Be creative! Let  your community know what Trunk Or Treat is and what they can expect. Parents are looking for a safe place for their kids!

Think About First Impressions

We are providing popcorn and lemonade as refreshments for the families that come to our Trick or Trunk event. This is a cost-effective way to keep your visitors around so that you can be friendly, evangelize, and invite them to church. Share with your volunteers practical ways to be friendly and kind to the guest and teach them how to spot and help new visitors.

For Enid First Assembly Father’s Day was one of the lowest attended days of the year, now it’s one of our biggest events of the year! Cars, trucks, big boy toys, hot wings eating contest and an encouraging message to Dad’s. This year we have world recorder holder for the fastest hot water bottle burst, Brian Jackson. The event is an outreach for our community.

What a great weekend! We kicked off a new 6 week series called BFF (Best Friends Forever). This series is based on Tom Holladay’s The Relationship Principles of Jesus. Also Sunday night we had a chili cookoff and Superbowl Party. The chili cook-off was a fundraiser, we had 18 pots of chili and in front of each pot of chili was a bucket for voting. Voting was done with money, the chili that raised the money won! This years Superbowl commercials were kind of disappointing, But there were a couple that made me laugh.
